My Favorite Tree

There’s a tree on Route 86 between The Hof and Lake Placid that stands tall above it’s neighbors and always catches my eye. I love all the kinds of pine trees up here and I’m having a great time learning one species from another. We have two amazing blue spruce (spruces?) in our side yard too. They look like granddaddies - I wonder how old they are.

I’ve been using this website, Adirondack Trees, to research and also the app Picture This. I don’t have any affiliation with either of these sources but they’re free and I’m learning a lot with them! If you’re driving Route 86 between Lake Placid and Wilmington, watch for my favorite tree on the river side of the road. Come up and visit - maybe you’ll find a favorite tree of your own.

“Trees are poems that the earth writes upon the sky.”
