Is it peak yet?

If you’re in an Adirondack group or a hiking group on social media you’re probably seeing the question as often as we are- are the leaves peaking yet? The short answer…. no-one really knows until it’s over. The best time to come to the Dacks to view the leaves is today! The foliage seems to change minute to minute. There may be loads of color up high and plenty of green in the valleys. Turn a corner and it could be completely different. We’re getting in all of the hiking we can right now. Yesterday’s quick trip up Baxter Mountain had plenty of amazing views of the High Peaks and valleys filled with Fall colors. But the pic of the day actually came on the drive home. Turning off of Rt 73 onto River Road there was Whiteface off in the distance, summit almost covered in clouds. Our favorite mountain was tucked behind a spectacular mosaic of reds, yellows and oranges. Was it peak foliage? We won’t know until it’s over!
